Amazon booked a four-hour Victorian battery without building it - Australia's first corporate storage toll outside the energy industry

ESS News reports Amazon signed a tolling agreement with Anza Power - the Australian subsidiary of US infrastructure investor I Squared Capital - for the under-development 50 MW / 200 MWh Bairnsdale battery energy storage system in Victoria. The deal lets Amazon use energy stored in the box, control charging and discharging, and run grid arbitrage. In return Amazon pays Anza a regular fixed fee and does not build or maintain the plant.
