Ireland will help pay for workplace solar panels. The battery is a separate bill.
Ireland’s workplace solar grant pays for panels on a business, farm, public, or non-profit roof. Evening power still comes from the grid unless you buy a box that stores the afternoon.
A cold store at 9pm is still using power. The roof peaked at lunch. Ireland will help pay for the panels. It will not, on this scheme, write a separate cheque for the battery.
SEAI — Ireland’s energy agency — funds panels by size, with a published table and a cap. Wait for the letter of offer before anyone starts work. The installer still files the network connection — the permission slip to plug the roof into the public grid.
Good: a buyer can point at a public grant table.
Bad: that cheque is for panels. Extra kit — batteries, water heaters that soak up spare sun — sits outside the grant amount on the scheme’s own terms. You can put a battery beside the panels. You are buying it.
Ugly: a solar-only approval can still leave a cold store buying the evening from the grid. A battery also brings a box, fire space, and extra network paper. None of that is a site euro figure, and we will not invent one.
Read the SEAI table for the roof. Read when the building actually uses power for the battery. They are not the same document.
