What is a Hybrid system?

A Hybrid system is a grid-connected solar system that also has batteries. While the sun is out, whatever your system is producing that you are not directly consuming gets sent to the batteries. Once the batteries are fully charged, the excess production that you are not consuming will be diverted back to the grid and you will likely receive credit for this from your energy retailer (Feed-in Tariff).

When the sun goes down, you will consume energy from your batteries first and once you have used all of your batteries usable capacity, you will then consume your energy from the grid until the sun comes up and your solar system starts to generate energy again.

 Why Redback?

Redback is a technology company focused on the development of advanced, low cost solar and battery storage solutions for residential and commercial users. Redback’s market leading integrated hardware and software technologies capture, store and manage solar energy, providing accelerated return on investment.

With a focus on quality and efficiency, Redback’s streamlined inverter hardware incorporates power electronics, cloud system control and related switchgear into an aesthetically pleasing design, allowing for rapid integration, and thus low installed costs.

Redback’s proprietary cloud based system puts power back in the hands of consumers. With the ability to analyse and control energy generation and consumption in real time, Redback affords consumers the ability to reduce energy costs, without sacrificing comfort. Best of all, Redback inverters are upgradable as new features become available, providing consumers with peace of mind.

Redback’s management has over a century of experience in renewable energy generation, engineering, manufacturing, software development and energy market regulation.

Locally based in Brisbane, Redback Technologies is supported by the Microsoft Innovation Centre and has established alliances with leading edge partners including Sonepar and The University of Queensland to ensure high quality, innovative and feature rich products that are delivered to our customers at disruptive prices.

  • Black start system (your system will continue to work in a blackout - not all hybrid systems do this)
  •  Locally owned and operated company
  • Pylontech batteries (proving to be a front runner in the independent battery testing facility in Australia -Click here for the latest report.
  • Expandable - the battery enclosure holds up to 4 batteries (2.5kWh or 3.5kWh each) and if that's not enough for you, simply add another enclosure with up to 4 more batteries.
  • Affordable and reliable.

Did you know that there has been a national electricity price increase by 20-30% on July 1st 2019? And this is set to be an annual trend for years to come.

What does this mean for you?

In our opinion, there’s never been a better time to go solar!

If you already have solar and have been thinking about adding batteries to your system (turning it into a hybrid system) we would have previously told you ‘It’s not viable right now, batteries won’t pay for themselves over the life of the battery’.

With this electricity price increase, batteries will start to make financial sense for more people. It is important to ensure you have enough excess energy each day to charge a battery.

Contact us for more information as it will still be selective homes that it makes financial sense for.
