What is a Hybrid system?
A Hybrid system is a grid-connected solar system that also has batteries. While the sun is out, whatever your system is producing that you are not directly consuming gets sent to the batteries. Once the batteries are fully charged, the excess production that you are not consuming will be diverted back to the grid and you will likely receive credit for this from your energy retailer (Feed-in Tariff).
When the sun goes down, you will consume energy from your batteries first and once you have used all of your batteries usable capacity, you will then consume your energy from the grid until the sun comes up and your solar system starts to generate energy again.
Cutting-edge Technology. Established in 2006, SolarEdge developed the DC optimised inverter solution that changed the way power is harvested and managed in photovoltaic (PV) systems. The SolarEdge intelligent inverter solution maximises power generation while lowering the cost of energy produced by the PV system, for improved return on investment.
Continuing to advance smart energy, SolarEdge addresses a broad range of energy market segments through its diversified product offering, including residential, commercial and large scale PV, energy storage and backup solutions, EV charging, home energy management, grid services and virtual power plants, batteries anduninterrupted power supply (UPS) solutions.
The StorEdge backup solution automatically powers important household loads, day or night, when the grid goes down. Unused solar power is stored in a battery for use during grid failures for increased homeowner energy independence, in addition to its on-grid capabilities for maximising self-consumption and electricity savings.
The StorEdge manages battery, backup power, and household consumption, in addition to its standard functionality as a solar inverter. The StorEdge inverter is suitable for indoor or outdoor installations, and includes a 12-year standard warranty.

Did you know that there has been a national electricity price increase by 20-30% on July 1st 2019? And this is set to be an annual trend for years to come.
What does this mean for you?
In our opinion, there’s never been a better time to go solar!
If you already have solar and have been thinking about adding batteries to your system (turning it into a hybrid system) we would have previously told you ‘It’s not viable right now, batteries won’t pay for themselves over the life of the battery’.
With this electricity price increase, batteries will start to make financial sense for more people. It is important to ensure you have enough excess energy each day to charge a battery.
Contact us for more information as it will still be selective homes that it makes financial sense for.
